Nappy Painting 2006
A square metre monochrome, the Nappy Painting weaves an organic grid inside a contemporary white square frame. The enlarged weft and warp of overlapping units opens the soft and slowly creaming interiors for inspection. Making a virtue of entropy, the artwork both attracts and repels, inviting disclosure and debate. During a year long exhibition at Massey University's new business incubator, post-it notes of comments appeared on walls around the artwork, sparking an impromptu competition to name the painting.
