Half Glass 2009
Headland Sculpture on the Gulf, Waiheke Island NZ
Half Glass explores the proverb of a glass half empty and a glass half-full. The central void equals one-half of the volume and area of the glass. Technically 'impossible' and achieved against the odds, the resolved piece was the last of seven attempts to cut and toughen this form. Depending on angle of view, the margins become translucent and disappear, merging with the landscape. Changes in light and weather cause the work to shift between frame, mirror, camera and lens.
