Portia 2010
Like the lead character in Shakespeare's play 'The Merchant of Venice', Portia presents an unyeilding 'I', focussed on the spectator, flirting openly while holding court. A dark mirrored pool slicing a blackened masonry base, the work absorbs and reflects, and frames a critique of image and text in the company of beauty.
