Not I 2011
Carved in limestone from a Portuguese quarry located at the antipodes to New Zealand, Not I has no back or front, top or bottom; only sides. The work is simultaneously and equally not 'First', 'One', 'I' and 'eye'. The missing text is encapsulated in stone and cast in shadow. Creamy and soft in appearance, the stone is smooth and cool to touch.
