Gill Gatfield – More

More 2003

A suite of word paintings investigating the minimalism of language, and connections between the ephemeral and the audible.  Emphasis shifts with plays of light and pronunciation.  'More' in Maori, meaning bare and plain, stands in stark contrast to the English 'more' meaning extra, additional; a contemporary metaphor for excess.  In French, 'more' is the pronunciation of 'amore' - love.
