In extended reality, HALO appears out of the ether, an ancient stone circle and futurist monument suspended over storied waters and legendary skylines. Its journey tracks from the ancestral harbour Te Whanganui-a-Tara in New Zealand's capital Wellington and the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds in the Far North, to the traditional trade routes of Manhattan's East River in New York City.

Both artifact and interface, HALO enmeshes humanity, nature and technology. The sculpture is activated by human presence and touch, with each viewer using their mobile phone to conjure the monumental virtual circle between the Earth, sky and sea. Its codified crystalline marble preserves a precious resource and embeds this ancient DNA in a sustainable monument. From precise geolocations, the ephemeral presence disperses sun- and moon-light, evoking the celestial haloes found in intersecting cosmologies and ancient weather lore.
