Alter Ego - Berlin 2021–2022

Kunstverein am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz

Presented by Kunstverein am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin, Alter Ego is a solo exhibition in two chapters: The Muses a large scale crystal-glass sculpture occupying the streetfront Foyer gallery of the iconic L40, and the virtual monument Native Tongue XR, an ancient wood totem created via the metaverse, in a nearby public park. In the wintery cultural precinct of Berlin, these ephemeral artworks emerge from the grey like spirit figures defying borders and non-linear time. They project and reflect states of being and tension through their futuristic media and ancestral first-forms. Brought to light in an alchemy of air, vapour, reflection, shadow, technology and space, Alter Ego conjures an Other I. The apparition or doppelgänger opens a window into the subconscious, engaging the psyche and senses in re/shaping the present tense.
